I had a really great year, I cannot complain. I am pretty sure this is the first really great year I’ve had in a long time. As I ring in the new year, I am counting my blessings, and decided to share just a few experiences with all of you.
I brought in 2008 with my sister (which is a regular occurrence) in Orlando. I then returned to spend a weekend in January at Disney for Erin’s last night at Fantasmic. We also saw the play The Drowsy Chaperone again.
February brought about Disciple Now. I worked with the 6th grade girls, and they were so great! Pocket Full of Rocks was our band, and Chuck Allen our speaker. I always love working with the youth group.
March focused on ReFRESH in the Smokies in Pigeon Forge, TN. William, Ben, Stephanie and I worked the conference, and our free afternoons and drive home made for a really fun time! The Lord really spoke through each of the speakers, and pastors were encouraged.
We celebrated my uncle’s 50th birthday in early April, and then I was on to Passion in Atlanta! We had a really fun group. It was a great time of worship.
Also, Frances and I made a trip to Mobile and Mississippi. We went to the beach, Biloxi, etc. It was a great get-away.
I turned 23 in April as well, and celebrated it with a surprise visit by Erin!
Then May brought the Fireproof premiere for Sherwood. I had spent the first few months listening to Alex edit Fireproof, so it was nice to have everyone see the final product!
In June I flew up to Indianapolis, Indiana for the Southern Baptist Convention Pastors’ Conference. I was the Conference Photographer, and it made for a crazy couple of days, but I love Indianapolis! The Conference went smoothly, and my dear friends Bill and Lynette Ebel made a trip down from Chicago to visit with us for a day!
I should also mention that a new group of friends began at some point in this month, and we are now practically inseparable. :)
July was the month for Mobile. I went to Mobile for the 4th and spent it with Ashley watching the fireworks on the bay, and then saw Ringo Starr in concert at the Beau Rivage in Biloxi, MS! A few weeks later, Marie and I drove to Mobile for a Fireproof screening and UM Reception for Erin and I, but not before stopping at Kids Camp for their talent show night. It was a great trip with Erin and Marie.
August started off with one of my great friends, Michael’s wedding. He and Loran were married on August the 2nd, and it was a beautiful ceremony.
I enjoyed watching The Olympics as much as possible, and, like the rest of the world, became a quick fan of Michael Phelps. :)
Towards the end of August, Labor Day Weekend to be exact, Diane, Frances, Mandy and I made our way up to Atlanta to stay at the Georgian Terrace. Chick-fil-A was having a celebration in honor of Truett Cathy’s 50th anniversary with his wife, and had a showing of Fireproof at the Fabulous Fox Theatre. We got to take a private tour of the theatre, and had an amazing time with everyone! It was by far one of the funnest things I did all year.
ReFresh in Albany took place in September. I have never experienced the Lord’s moving as much as I did that week. It was incredible. So many lives were changed, and Sherwood is not the same because of it.
Also, Zachariah turned 1, and had his first taste of cake, and LOVED it. :)
I travelled to Los Angeles in September as well. We had the Fireproof movie premiere, toured the Sony back lots, and I saw Jimmy Kimmel AND Charlie from LOST! Love!!
October dealt with the planning of Candyfest and a Halloween party. Candyfest went off well. The College | Career booths operated smoothly, which was the only worry I had. Kids got saved, parents were able to bring their children out into a safe environment, and we formed relationships with the community.
The Halloween party was great. Everyone had great costumes. Erin and I were “Crazy Catt Ladies”, Frances Bon Qui Qui, etc. There were some pretty clever outfits as well. And Michelle came to visit!
November was the longest, yet shortest, month for me. Erin, Frances, and I went to Europe for the majority of the month!!! We visited Barcelona, Spain; Florence & Pisa, Italy; Rome, Italy; Naples, Italy; Venice, Italy; and Split, Croatia. It was a trip of a lifetime. We saw beautiful sights, ate wonderful food, and enjoyed our time away from our everyday life. I cannot wait to go back!
When we returned from Europe, Frances’ family met us in Orlando and we spent Thanksgiving at Disney!
And finally, December brought about a mellow month celebrating the Christmas season. Most days spent just hanging out with friends at Jason’s, and having going away parties for William before he moved to Athens. And yes, I said parties, multiple. :) We had a Tacky Christmas Sweater Party, and my parents moved on Christmas Eve. Then I made a random decision to drive to Orlando for New Years, around 1 pm on New Years Eve.
So 2008 brought about a lot of trips, a lot of fun, and so many wonderful memories. I am looking forward to what the Lord will do in 2009. So far, I am hoping to visit Chicago, Las Vegas, and more than likely see both my cousin and my sister get married! I think its going to be a good year.
