One of my good friends in college, Steven, wrote this. I thought it was worth sharing…
“God is supposed to be all-powerful, the church is supposed to be real community, christian fellowship is supposed to be genuine and liberated and vulnerable and uncensored. Jesus was supposed to set us free.
it seems like lately, none of that is true. And i think it’s our fault.
I wish we had not learned to be afraid to think. it is dim to mindlessly connect with something for no good reason like music or movies or books we have become lazy with taste because we would rather take what we are given and do what we are told rather than dig for gold. art should make you think and reason not retreat to some drunken, blinded, ecstasy of shallow emotion.
at least, i don’t think that’s what HE had in mind.
if you are going to say something, let it be something. If you are going to do something make sure it does something. If you are going to make something make sure it’s worth making. If you are going to be something make sure it’s worth being.
if you are going to stand for something, fight.”
