Everything’s Changing

What a crazy summer this has turned out to be!

At the beginning of the summer, my friend Jason moved to Tallahassee to begin grad school at FSU. We saw him off with an FSU-themed graduation party. Thankfully, his girlfriend Macy still lived in Albany, so we still saw him often.

Just a few weeks ago Jared, another of the original “Friends” (three guys, three girls), moved to the Caribbean for med school. We saw him off with a cookout and game night, before watching the First Annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade together one last time.

Then, Macy moved to Tallahassee for work… and of course to be near Jason. I saw her off with a traditional Pearly’s breakfast, and the knowledge that she is only an hour and a half away, so I think I can survive. :)

Last night, I got the phone call that Macy and Jason are engaged! How exciting! Plus, I was the first person they called, which made it even better. ;) I never thought that first night I met Macy three years ago – in Chili’s after church – that she would become such a blessing in my life. I don’t typically like surprises, but her friendship was/is definitely a surprise that I have loved every minute of.

And today Michelle, a dear friend from college whom I am privileged to do life with, is moving to Turkey to teach for the next 2+ years. I love her passion for others, missions, and our Lord. She is using her talents to be a light in a dark place, and I am so grateful to still call her my friend after all these years.

So in just a summer’s time, the “Friends” – the people I have lived life with for the last 3+ years, have been split up. Some are living the good life on the beach, some are getting married, but thankfully, I still have Frances and Josh. They live a minute’s walk away, and they can’t ever leave. I won’t let them. Unless of course they find a house with a pool. :)
