As you probably already know, I first experienced Africa back in 2010 on a mission trip with SafeWorld in Uganda handing out mosquito nets, dedicating a fresh water well, and working in orphanages. I grew to love the people greatly, especially one particular little boy named Joel. That trip, that country, and that boy changed my life. In a matter of days, my heart was quickly and permanently tied to the continent of Africa.
Then in 2012, I was able to serve alongside Multi Ministries in South Africa, leading a group of 13 to serve the Lord in Musina, a town on the border of Zimbabwe, and in Johannesburg. We worked in several shelters, held services every night, and saw 285 people saved in those two weeks!
Over the years, the Lord has continued to plant in me a desire to make His name famous. He has refused to give up on me as I’ve been praying for several years about what missional living looks like for me, and He has continued to faithfully guide me in the right direction.
“Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, ‘This is the way; walk in it.'” Isaiah 30:21
Now I am humbled to tell you that through various God-ordained events, I have been accepted to serve in South Africa with the International Mission Board in their Hands On Program. Beginning in January for at least five months (could be up to a year), I’ll be serving as a Storyteller (journalist) based out of Johannesburg, South Africa, and will be traveling Sub-Saharan Africa, sharing stories of how the Lord is working. I’m humbled that the Lord would entrust me with such a major assignment, and leaning on His strength to take me every step of the way.
“Your strength will come from settling down in complete dependence on Me…”
I am eternally grateful for each one of you who have already sent encouraging notes and messages, and I know that you are praying for me in this endeavor. Prayer is the best gift you could give me. It is the most important thing, because I am unable to do this without the Lord and the prayers of His saints.
“Finally, dear brothers and sisters, we ask you to pray for us. Pray that the Lord’s message will spread rapidly and be honored wherever it goes, just as when it came to you.” 2 Thessalonians 3:1
Insanely Grateful for the Body of Christ,
